It is important for nurse practitioners to be able to utilize technology at an advanced level because technology is integrated into healthcare. Prior to this program, there were many resources that I was not aware of that improve healthcare practice such as UpToDate. Since beginning this program I have learned how to utilize this resource and interpret the information to apply evidence-based knowledge into practice. Healthcare technology and informatics are integrated into the healthcare system in efforts to improve patient care. Technology has already made improvements in healthcare by increasing healthcare delivery, improving patient health outcomes, and enhancing patient education techniques. Technology will continue to evolve and grow and nurse practitioners need to be prepared at an advanced level to be able to anticipate and embrace technological change.
